Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

Great View but Outside Could Be Better Maintained

"The view was absolutely amazing. They just took down several trees to be able to see the mountains however 5-6 more should have been taken down. The inside was fine but on the main level the master bedroom had a full size bed and no furniture to unpack in. The outside porch and deck needs to be pressure washed (black moldy stuff everywhere) and the framing around all the windows and doors desperately need repainting.

Obstructed View from Neglected Rental = Total Disappointment

"This home and the rental experience suffer from total mis-management and owner neglect. Trees have been allowed to grow, completely obstructing the view you see on the website. Beer cans were found strewn on the deck and beyond the rail by the hot tub. Wooden railings and stairs along side of home are in disrepair and stairs are visibly unsafe and overgrown with kudzu. The reek of mold/mildew and mouse urine permeates the lower level and through the closed door from the main level. Virtually all of the blinds are broken and non-functioning as are about 1/3 of the screens (preventing opening of window due to insects). Ancient and yellowing notes on the walls indicate plans to replace the blinds. I guess they’re waiting for the next decade to arrive. Emails and multiple phone calls during the stay were greeted politely but with no further response/remedy or action - just a “thanks for letting us know “ kind of approach. We have rented 12 homes in the Bryson area since 2013. This is our first negative review posting. (We are not complainers.)

Cozy Mountain Top Cabin

"The cabin was so cozy, sitting by the fire and enjoying the amazing views. We really liked the location because it’s close to Bryson City. The road leading up to the cabin is very steep, but not too difficult since it is paved all the way. The check in and out process was easy. When we had a problem with the gas logs, and the agency was quick to respond and resolved the issue. Overall, we were very satisfied with the cabin and would recommend it to our family and friends.

"The facilities was wonderful. A few minor itmes, but overall was a pleasant cabin to rent. It was the perfect size for my family and not too far away from activities. Will definitely rent from Yellow Rose again. Spoke with Billy at Yellow Rose several times and he was very nice and accommodating. I will definitely recommend this to others.

"we arrived at the cabin with detail instructions on how to locate.the inside of the cabin was very clean,with one exception. if standing in the loft you can see dead bugs on the windowsill of the living room windows. The direct TV did not work the first night,but we did call for help and it was quickly resolved.Our biggest disappointment was the back porch. the hot tub had rust in it and the chemicals were not a result,unfortunately did not get to use.the back porch needs some TLC.There is mold everywhere and very little seating. the deck needs a lot of work same withe the deck down stairs also.the picnic table has seen better days and needs a good cleaning.the hot tub and back porch were one of the enticing parts of renting this house,as we were looking forward to using this space and enjoying the view from outside. however,we were unable to utilize that space at all.the view is now mostly obscured by growth of the trees and the underbrush has all but taken over the side of the house where the steps are located. the inside of the house was a 4/5, but the back decks/hot tub was a 1/5

"This was our second year planning our vacation through Yellow Rose Real Estate and it was fabulous! Everyone in the office goes above and beyond to make our experience perfect! The rental office is aware of why I only gave 1 star for condition and cleanliness and they were quick to resolve my concerns. We will definitely be renting from Yellow Rose next year! Heavens Peak - decent property.

"The Cabin was absolutely beautiful, and we loved being away from town and having our own little slice of paradise. However, the cabin was filthy when we arrived for check in. The floors were covered in a sticky residue throughout the kitchen, there was hair all over the bathroom floors and all of the bedding, cobwebs in all the vaulted corners, the drawers in the kitchen were very gross on the inside, etc. I would fire your housekeeping, as it didnt look like anything more than the bare minimum had been done for a very like time. For the nightly rental rate, we feel like the cabin should have been clean at the minimum. There were also multiple notes in the binder from previous guests about the cleanliness of the cabin and broken things that had not been addressed such as the dishwasher rack on the top being broken.

Great view, but not clean

"I’ll start with the positive. The view was beautiful and there was ample space for all the guests. However, upon arrival, we noticed many areas that were not cleaned well. The floor around the master bathroom toilet on the main level had red, sticky splotches. We had to clean that with Clorox wipes. The cups and plates in the kitchen were filthy. We had to run everything in the dishwasher when we got there. Overall, the place wasn’t very clean. The place has an ant problem. There were dead ants and a lot of live ants in the kitchen. Also, there is a mouse/rat that ran behind the fridge. There were 2 cooking pots in the kitchen. We had to buy a pan so we could cook. It was not well furnished. A lot of the place needs repairs. The stove drawer is broken and the pool table was all ripped. Also, we never could get the TV on the main level to work. Lastly, the master bathroom smelled like septic tank all week. There seems to be a problem there. Bottom line—- although the view is spectacular, we won’t stay again.

Needs a little tlc

"This is a beautiful place and amazing view but it just has a few maintenance issues. The backdoor handle needs fixing. The grill on porch needs to be thrown away. The kitchen needs a few more cooking utensils and cookware. The trash needs picking up that someone threw off porch. Downstairs bedroom stays cold. We appreciate someone bringing us gas and fixing toilet while we were there though but overall it's a great home with spectacular views.

Magnificent View!

"Amazing view! Great layout. Beds were great. A little lacking in the pots and pans department, could use some upgrades to kitchen ware and utensils. Master bath had a leaky toilet and we had to shut it off while there and couldn't use it - told maintenance and while they tried to get someone there, didn't get fixed while we were there. Basement shower had serious drainage issues, also told the cleaning folks to drop some Drano next time they came around. Need to fix the handle on the main floor back porch door - it falls off when you open the door and there is a broken lock. Pool table only had one cue stick that could be used, other was broken and the table itself has a large rip. Overall, we enjoyed the home and the view, as well as its proximity to Bryson City, and think it could benefit from just a little TLC to be the "perfect" getaway!

"The staff at yellow Rose was quite helpful and the view from the house was breathtaking. But the house was in a state of dysfunction, none of the blinds worked, The pool table had a 4 inch gash in the velvet which made it impossible to play.
They were Sharp nails that stuck out of the staircase treads. And I would strongly recommend bringing your own kitchen supplies there’s a hodgepodge of broken in bed kitchen utensils. On a positive note the Wi-Fi and satellite works really well. And the hot tub performed as advertised.

"The Views are spectacular! If you are looking for "on top of the mountains" this is it! However for the price point they should address the problems. We read in reviews about the back door handle for months before we travelled and assumed it would be fixed, it was not. There were other small issues, the fire place didn't work, lights not working in one bathroom, faucet leaking in another. These were small issues and didn't effect our stay. It was clean and we used the hot tub, the outdoor fire pit, all fine. I did call the management company asking if there was a Keurig and was told no, but there was one.

"This property has the absolute best view! We were very happy overall with this visit and definitely plan on returning. It was the perfect size for our family and was pleased to see they had baby supplies available as well. A few things we noticed that I feel needed attention was the porch door handle was broken upon arriving, one of the studs by the grill was loose so it was a tad concerning, and a couple steps had a nail that needed to be hammered down again. Also, there weren't any trash bags available so we had to use our store bags for garbage but I think that was just a fluke because we had everything else we needed. Otherwise everything else was amazing!! We enjoyed our stay very much!!

Beautiful Views, Bare Minimum / Lacking Maintenance and Cleaning

"Staring off with the positive, the view around this home is BEAUTIFUL. As far as the eye can see, there are mountains. Sunrise will take your breath away. As for the condition of the home.. the best way to describe it is as if the owner of the property doesn't value or care to put any money into maintenance. All the complaints such as the broken door to the deck (still broken even though I emailed the rental property management company and they assured me they sent someone to fix it). The deck railing is rotted / will fall over if someone gave it a kick / a safety hazard. Carpets aren't clean and will leave your socks brown. Multiple corners in the home had build up of dead bugs. Laundry room had dead bugs all over the ground. The grill had a ton of old grease below it and the bottom of it is falling a part. Someone before us complained about bugs.. I think they ended up spraying again because most of the bugs we found were dead. The pool table has a rip in it and there is only one pool stick. In the reviews I've seen that the management company replied to they often deflect back to the owners of the place not paying / waiting on them to take care of it... my unsolicited advice would be that Yellow Rose Rental either needs hold the owners responsible for the damages / safety hazards / upkeep of this property by taking it off of all the rental sites until these things are fixed OR drop them as their client.. because it's bringing Yellow Rose's ratings down...

Don't recommend staying here. It was fine.. but not worth the money you pay for the damages / lack of upkeep. Find another place.

"Although the view was spectacular, nothing else about this cabin was up to par. We found ants in large numbers in the kitchen. We saw multiple mice in the downstairs rooms and could hear them in the wall throughout the night. The handle on the backdoor fell off every time one of us touched the door. The grill was so dirty that it was unusable and one of the rocking chairs had disintegrated to the point that rusty nails were exposed. The felt was ripped on the pool table and only one of the pool sticks had a remaining tip. The hot water was turned off when we got to the property and had to be manually reset in order for us to shower hours later. Although my group of friends rents a cabin for a weekend every year, we will never be staying at this location again.

"Beautiful views, perfect size for large family. Paved road to the cabin was a plus. Essentials were provided ( towels, toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen utensils,etc).

Needs Attention

"Property Manager was provided lengthy lists of issues to include hot tub, rodent, door and hopefully the notes telling you what’s wrong with unit taped on walls will be removed. Perhaps next guest will have a clean problem free unit and will not need housekeeping to be on site before unpacking.

"We loved the amenities in the cabin, as well as the views. Unfortunately, there were ants walking along the living room/kitchen wall our entire stay, and there were clearly maintenance issues. For example, my husband was simply closing the front door and the doorknob came completely undone. I also had the back door curtain rod crash down on me — barely missing my head — when I was simply opening the drapes. My husband had tools in his truck, so he ended up fixing both himself. The back doorknobs were also very finicky to use. They had a note taped above it on how to work it, but it was definitely complicated. Having brought two toddlers along for our family vacation, we were quite concerned that they were going to find something else break and injure them. Other than that, we were pleased with the layout of the cabin, and thoroughly enjoyed the views. The drive up was extremely steep, but worth it overall.

"The home was very clean and inviting! The owners have set it up nicely for a large group. I was glad the bedrooms were on different floors, that made it convenient for different levels of guests. The view was outstanding! God's country for sure! You could not ask for a more lovely view! Every time you turned around you could enjoy the mountains; when you opened your eyes at night, the first thing you seen was the millions of stars from the upstairs bedroom! Amazing! Comfortable and beautiful!

Just not the same

"We have come to Heavens Peak to share our love for it with our new daughter n law and granddaughter. It was just not the same as it has been. Bit run down. There were no tips on the pool sticks and the one that had one there was no chalk form kitchen supplies sparse, and we got bed bugs from the upstairs bed. Just not the same unfortunately. It is truly one of our favorite places to be with our family, but afraid we will have to move on.

"View was amazing! Mountain views changed throughout the day and changing weather conditions. Property was clean, well maintain, and provided the relaxation we were looking for. Visited Haywood Smoke House in Waynesville for excellent NC BBQ, Biltmore House tour with Yellow Rose assisting with discounted tickets, and enjoyed Smoky Mountain National Park. I have already recommended this property and Yellow Rose to friends. We will be back!

Beautiful Home-Great Location

"The house is located at the top of a beautiful mountain peak, which would be breathtaking if we didn't see these mountains and views every day. It's a little bit of a steep trek driving up from the bottom of the mountain, but it's all paved, so it shouldn't be a problem for any model car unless there's snow or ice. One of the main reasons for staying there was celebrating one of our birthdays by going to Harrah's Cherokee Casino, which was about a 25 minute drive from the house, so it was fairly convenient. The furnishings are nice and of good quality. The kitchen is a good size conveniently off of the living room, which has large windows & doors out to the middle deck. The views from the middle & upper decks are beautiful, with the lower deck being a little more private below tree level. It is a 3-level home, which we enjoyed, but might be a turn-off if you don't want to be going up and down a lot of stairs, because there certainly are a lot. It's got some entertainment options like TV, pool table, and a basket in the kitchen that contains some card games, which was nice when we had some down time. The only drawback, though, is the TV in the basement, where we wanted to spend a lot of our time, was stuck on Nickelodeon. It's the only channel that even showed up as available on the "Guide", and there were no parental controls or locks we saw that could unlock the other channels. Also, the hot water did not work when we tried to use it. With it being fairly late in the evening, we didn't want to disturb the staff, so after a little investigation we found that the breaker was turned off for the hot water heater! Needless to say, it took a little while before we could enjoy a hot shower... Other than that, the beds were comfortable and we had a great stay!
