"We surely enjoyed our stay. The cabin was rustic and peaceful and just what we needed. We had the best time playing in the creek and unplugging for a couple days. We loved the rustic country feel of the cabin and it was plenty of room for our large family to be comfortable. The cabin was nice enough, but it was a bit dusty and several cobwebs. Surely the cleaning service could take a few quick minutes to dust the fans and knock down cobwebs. The kitchen had most needed supplies, but could use a couple bigger pots. we had to cook some meals in two medium pots in order to feed our bunch. Other than that we had no complaints and would most definitely stay again. If you are wanting to get away from it all and spend some peaceful time in nature I most definitely recommend Larky Lodge.

"We loved the cabin, but the company needs to put a little TLC into it! We had a bad start due to it had not been cleaned before we got there. No wifi, shower upstairs leaked in king bedroom downstairs, the phone didn't work,and the satellite was messed up. I called Yellowrose and they were easy to deal with and did refund back a little money for the cleaning issue. The kids loved the creek! It was good to be disconnected from things for a little bit! I would stay again at Larky Lodge, but I just wish you would update it a little and fix what needs fixing.

"The house was dirty, the rental service was supposed to send someone to come and I’d the cable and dvd player and never showed up. The house was dirty. Whoever cleans takes shortcuts. The floor wiped up black and the bathtub had mold and mildew in the shower doors and track. To top it off, the oven quit working the last night. We come to the area a good bit and we won’t return here. The next worse VRBO was a townhouse in DC and the only thing that made it better was the place had cable and this place did not. Also, they stock the stream in March based on what I heard so don’t expect to catch many trout.

"Overall the experience was good. We were not able to use the tv, dvd players, or the gas fire place and only 2 eyes worked on the stove and it was dirty. There is a rotten place on the deck that could give way. It is secluded and very quiet which was nice to not have to hear traffic constantly. we would stay again, but I think some updates need to be made.

"Great location. The stream is awesome! No internet and no TV and the DVD player doesn't work so if you can't go offline then I wouldn't recommend it. But if you can then this is the place for you. I loved it but my people were a little upset there wasn't at least TV.

"Have been coming here for approx 30 years and in this same house. Love the location , however this year the house needed some more cleaning and looking after. Direct tv never worked. Had to purchase a dvd player since the old one hasn't worked in the last two years.
Purchased our own coffee maker since part of the one at the house is gone. Grounds looked good. One eye on stove never worked. Just think it needs some more care. I hate having to wait till 4pm to check in also. We usually leave early in the morning and would like to check in early also.

"Absolutely no phone service or Wi-Fi, house has tons of mold and smells of mildew. Upstairs shower leaks into master bedroom. Upstairs AC covered in mold, house is full of dust, almost like the cleaners didn’t dust in about 5 years. 2 hour ride to get to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.

"I loved the location of the cabin. I loved it Being next to the running water, so peaceful. I called and requested fire wood which was there when we arrived. It was a very generous amount for the money. We had fires every night and still had plenty left at the end of the week which we took home for our own fire pits. It would have been nice if they had taken it to the back of the cabin where they had a nice place to store the firewood instead of dumping it in the front. There was a hole in the porch with a nail sticking up. We had to keep an eye on the dog to make sure she didn’t hurt her paw on it. We weren’t real happy with that, anyone could have stepped on it. The place to park/ turn around was very small. It was a bit tricky maneuvering our big truck to get it turned around. Other than these few things, we loved the cabin. I would absolutely recommend staying there

"I along with my family (2 daughters & husbands and 3 grands) loved the 4 bedroom cottage. Polar Express in matching pajamas, horseback riding & hiking to 3 waterfalls, fishing in the stream beside the cottage, and making Smores at the fire pit were enjoyed. Perfect location. Bryson City is picturesque and decorated beautifully for Christmas.

"We enjoyed our stay and the location, but the house could use a good cleaning to get rid of the musty odor and the cobwebs. Also the is a leak in the upstairs bath that’s leaking down into the king bedroom, the deck that is over the water has come a loose from the steps and house railing. "We have used Yellow Rose ReL Eastate every time we go to Bryson N.C..This was the first time we were so disappointed the house was not clean at all the house smelled moldy and dead bugs along base board, microwave dirty stove top, stuff broke, steps going down broke and being held up with rock, fans dusty when they were running dust went every where. ND on my last day I WAS WOKE UP BY ROOFING COMPANY FIXING THE ROOF. NOT GOOD !!!

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Larky lodge. Rental is perfect for a family get a way. The fishing wasn’t as great as the description described although the kids caught a handful of trout. Everything was clean and had a rustic charm. The rental needs better directions we got a lost a couple of times before we finally found the lodge. Overall we enjoyed our trip and we’re likely to visit again.

"We have stayed here several times and love the property! Each time we rent, we hope that some vital changes have been made but unfortunately, they haven't yet! We'll hope for next time! The beds, especially the ones upstairs are really bad! We had friends with us who are late 60s and early 70s who loved the creek and the house but said they wouldn't go back because of the beds. The bathroom upstairs is also really bad and dangerous! The oven has gotten worse since our last stay in 2019-it takes an hour to get it up to 300 degrees and that's about all you can get from it.The only other thing is the outdoor steps leading to creek are very slippery & could use a nonslip surface put on them like the steps at Creekside Cottage next door. I really want to continue renting this property because I love it! Please get some new beds and an oven. Thanks!!

"I stayed here for a week in 2014, so decided to stay again this year. I was disappointed to arrive and find the porch quite filthy, a full ashtray, an oven that barely worked, all 4 bedrooms smelling of mold and mildew, and a much less than acceptable upstairs bathroom. This cabin needs help and soon. I will not be able to recommend staying here.

"Great management but the cabin has a musty smell and we saw and trapped a mouse. It is listed as a fishing cabin, but owners need to do some upgrades and airing. Second year that no cable for 4 days, not weather related. Great fishing.

"We liked the place, however , property needs updating. Furniture was inadequate,curtains and especially blinds need replacing. Pillows in living room. Not enough blankets and the ones that were there needed washing. Fire pit outside was nice, but furniture was was rather scary to sit in. Hope this was helpful, we will be looking for a house next Oct. Love the area. Yellow Rose employees were very accommodating.

Non-motorcycle Friendly Larky Lodge

" You SHOULD know that this property is NOT very motorcycle friendly. I inquired about the property being motorcycle friendly twice; once in an email when I was inquiring about the rental and when I called the realty to remind them that all fees had been paid and I hadn't received the directions and I was ASSURED both times that it was. Had the realty been open when we arrived, I would've requested a different cabin. The driveway has a grade of 35-40% and is gravel. We had two lady riders and we had to have our husbands ride the motorcycles up and down the drive every time we rode. I know this is an old home but it definitely needs to be aired out. It's musty and smells of mold. The curtains in one of the bedrooms are so old that they're dry rotted and are ripped at the bottom. The floors had sand and dirt on them and that's when we first arrived. You could walk across the floor one time and your feet were black. There were nails sticking up in the floor in one of the bedrooms that someone hurt themselves on. There were cobwebs everywhere inside and out. We would've liked to sit in the rocking chairs on the porch but they were covered in spiders and cobwebs. There was no wood. There is also a stairway leading to the creek. On the right railing, the 2 X 4 is missing and there and about 6 nails sticking up. All in all, we made the best of it and had a good time but you really need to be honest about what you're renting and know whether or not the driveway is motorcycle friendly.

Mega NOPE

"If you need a family getaway and love the mountains, find a different place to stay. Having recently lost our husband/dad/Popi we needed a fun getaway. We had some fun, just not here. First, the house is about a half hour outside town. Second, it was FILTHY - webby enough to be a haunted house. If we didn't have little children who just spent hours in the car we would not have stayed. It looks OK at first glance but reeks of must and neglect. Had to wash all the kitchen equipment before use bc of mouse droppings and spiders everywhere. The ancient beds are torture chambers of agony, repositories of biological detritus. No step stools for the little ones, no tub stopper for their baths. Having to haul our own garbage and recycling to town was ridiculous. The owner(s) would be well advised to invest some money, hire routine cleaners and exterminators,replace old stained mattresses and pillows, and run a dehumidifier. We had to wash every single thread when we got home--everything reeked of mildew. It's a shame, because the place could be a real gem.

Wish I was back!

"Perfect location. The rushing water directly in the front is so relaxing. The cabin fit the surroundings. Luckily it was a cool weekend and opening windows and running the fans provided kept it cool enough as the window units were in the bedrooms only. Absolutely no cell service and no internet. There is however a landline and satellite TV. Overall, we had a great time.

"The surroundings were amazing. Right on the creek. Kids loved fishing right off the deck. And actually caught a few fish. It's a little off the beaten path which is good and bad. The house needs a few upgrades; a new coat of paint (inside) and new window blinds would do wonders.
